This qualification will develop your knowledge, understanding and skills to work as a Barista. The main role of a Barista is to make wonderful coffee, but you will also learn how use equipment to make tea, hot chocolate, smoothies and juices.

You will bring together the knowledge and skills you have developed to produce excellent quality drinks every time.

You will also deal with the taking of payments from customers and solve problems that arise on a daily basis when working as a barista.

What will I do?

You will learn about coffee, where it is grown, how it is processed and how it arrives ready for you to grind and brew. You will know how to correctly handle products so you can produce excellent drinks. You will look at the full range of equipment, identify safety aspects and be able to recognise common faults so you can operate the equipment to deliver the desired drink quality. You will also become aware of the importance of good customer service and how to provide this.

There are no formal entry qualifications for the Level 2 Barista Skills.

The Barista Skills course will take one day per week to complete over five weeks

Assessment will take place through practical assessments supported by a theory exam.

Completion of this course will enable you to progress onto a Level 3 course at the college.

Please note: due to social distancing measures required in educational settings some parts of this course may be delivered online.
