The Level 2 Site Carpentry Technical Certificate aims to prepare you for employment and further training in the construction industry.
You will study topics which are required for the construction of buildings. These include use of hand tools, portable power tools and static machines as well as skills including the fixing and fitting of stairs, roofs, floors, cupboards, kitchens, skirtings, doors and windows.
The Level 2 Site Carpentry Technical Certificate is made up of the following mandatory units:
Enterprise activities, to prepare you for life outside college, helping you to find a job.
You will have a personal tutor to help you on an individual basis to maximise your potential.
All students are expected to participate in trips organised by the College to help supplement your course.
Full time 16-19 learner with a Grade 3 or below, must study towards a GCSE grade 4-9.
The entry qualifications for the Level 2 Site Carpentry Technical Certificate are four GCSEs at grade 3 or above (Old GCSE grade D or above) including Maths at grade 4 or above (Old GCSE grade C or above) or equivalent, or a relevant Level 1 vocational qualification.
If you are concerned about meeting the entry requirements, our 'Carpentry and Joinery Diploma Level 1' course may be a more suitable starting point for you.
The Site Carpentry Technical Certificate is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.
If you are aged 19+, this course will cost £1500.

You will be assessed through practical assessments, written assessments, and multi-choice examinations.
Your final assessment will consist of a theory exam and a synoptic practical assessment, which will be subject to moderation by the Awarding Body, City and Guilds.
All work is assessed, when required, by College-based assessors. All work can be re-assessed if required without delay to ensure you achieve your qualifications.
Functional Skills are assessed by externally set exams.
