You will study the basics of marketing strategy including social media, email and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) as part of marketing campaigns. The Digital Marketing course is designed for those who have little or no previous experience but would like to develop their knowledge and understanding of Digital Marketing.

What will I do?

You will study 5 key units designed to equip you with the basic skills and knowledge of Digital Marketing.

Unit 1 Social Media for Business.

  • Understanding the range of social media platforms available for use by business
  • Knowing how to use social media platforms to engage audience
  • Understanding the role of social media in building brand reputation

Unit 2 Email as a Promotional Tool for Business.

  • Understanding how email campaigns can help businesses reach and engage their audience
  • Planning an email campaign
  • Understanding the role of data protection regulation when implementing email campaign

Unit 3 Digital Marketing Review

  • Understanding the role of digital marketing
  • Knowing how to review the effectiveness of digital marketing
  • Know how to use the outcomes of digital marketing effectiveness reviews

Unit 4 Understanding Search Engine Optimisation for Business

  • Understanding the principles of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
  • Knowing how Search Engine Optimisation benefits business
  • Knowing how to use Search Engine Optimisation to benefit a business

Unit 5 Digital Marketing for Business

  • Understanding the role of digital marketing in business
  • Understanding how digital promotion is achieved
  • Producing a plan to promote a business through digital channels
  • Knowing how to use online presence to raise funds and cut cost

As this is an adult learning course, you will need to be aged be 19+ as at 31st August prior to the start of the current academic year. You will also need to have at least a Level 1 qualification in English/Literacy or equivalent, as the course requires you write your answers for assessment purposes.

We can assess your English/Literacy level before you enrol for the Distance Learning course to see if you are currently working to this level. Please contact distancelearning@boston.ac.uk to request further information.

To assist in completion of this qualification, it may help to be working in, or have access to, the chosen sector. If you already have a higher-level qualification in this specialism, it may impact on your eligibility.

Distance Learning course are studied from home, work, or any location you wish via our fully online learning platform.

Distance Learning Courses can be started at any time.

This course is currently being subsidised by Boston College and is therefore FREE* of charge.

We do accept that sometimes there are exceptional circumstances that prohibit you from completing these courses. If you find yourself struggling with the qualification, our support staff will always try to help you find a workable resolution. However, if you are studying a free course and choose to withdraw, you may have to pay a non-completion fee of £85 to cover the administration costs, materials and registration fees. *subject to eligibility.

The assessment for this course is completed fully online – you access all the learning materials as well as complete and submit your assessments online.

You will be supported by a personal tutor who you can contact throughout your studies. You will work through a series of tasks and activities to assist in gaining the qualification. There will be written assessments related to the content.

Successful completion of the course will lead to a better understanding of the subject, which may improve your career prospects. You could also progress onto other qualifications in this field, or further Distance Learning courses to continue your CPD.
