Our Level 2 (Intermediate) Business Administration Apprenticeship is a nationally recognised course involving the use of intermediate business administration techniques and training, offering you the opportunity to gain hands on industry experience.
The Business Administration Level 2 (Intermediate) Apprenticeship has been developed and designed to provide employers with a workforce who have the skills, knowledge and competencies to support business systems, processes and services and who can contribute to making businesses more efficient and productive.
As an Apprentice, you will receive on-the-job training at your workplace and support in the workplace from your assessor. Additional training may be necessary on a day release basis at Boston College.
The Apprenticeship framework consists of several elements which have been identified by employers to ensure Apprentices have an appropriate set of business administration skills to operate in their specific chosen job role.
These elements are:
Maths - Level 1 or Level 2 Functional Skills, unless an equivalent qualification has already been achieved.
English - Level 1 or Level 2 Functional Skills, unless an equivalent qualification has already been achieved.
ICT - Level 1 or Level 2 is a requirement of some Apprenticeships unless an equivalent qualification has already been achieved.
ERR - Employee Rights and Responsibilities, which includes health and safety, equality and diversity as well as employment legislation.
PLTS - Personal Learning and Thinking Skills, which includes team working, creative thinking and reflective learning.
Vocational Element (Knowledge) - most Apprenticeship frameworks include off-the-job study for a technical certificate, which is usually done at College.
Vocational Element (Competence) - all Apprenticeships include on-the-job training and assessment leading to a competence based vocational qualification.
On some frameworks, the knowledge and competence elements are combined into one qualification.
The qualification you will study within your Apprenticeship framework is the Business Administration Diploma Level 2.
All of the above will be integrated within the assessment process.
The entry qualifications for the Level 2 Business Administration Apprenticeship are four GCSEs at grades D or above (New GCSE grade 3 or above) including English and Maths, or Functional Skills English and Maths at Level 1 or above (or equivalent).
You will also need to be in a relevant job role.
The Business Administration Apprenticeship will take you one year to complete, and is accomplished in the workplace.
You will be expected to attend College at least once a month where you will receive one-to-one support from your assessor and functional skills tutors.
As an Apprentice, you will pay no course fees. However, your employer may have to pay towards your training as well as providing you with a wage (please see below).

All Apprentices will receive a minimum wage of £3.70 per hour within their first year of training from their employer, although they can, and often do, pay more.
In the second and subsequent years of an Apprenticeship programme, the following applies:
Under 18s – the required national minimum wage of £4.20 per hour.
18–20 year olds - the required national minimum wage of £5.90 per hour.
21-24 year olds - the required national minimum wage of £7.38 per hour.
25 year olds and over – the required national minimum wage of £7.83 per hour.

You will be assessed using a variety of different methods including observation, professional discussion and production of written evidence.
You will have regular reviews with a dedicated assessor who will help you to plan your learning journey on an individual basis.
Upon completion of the Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship, you may then progress onto the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Business Administration or into another Level 3 course in the industry sector in which you are based.
Alternatively, you may elect to return to education to study on another Level 3 qualification.
Career progression and employment opportunities will be enhanced upon completion of the Apprenticeship at any level.
Additional costs include purchasing an A4 folder for your work, pen, pencil and paper.
