You will learn all the basics of the three trades, giving you an idea of what you are good at and what you enjoy so you can plan your career path and progression accordingly.
The Level 1 Construction Skills Diploma will provide you with an excellent initiation into the world of construction in order to enable you to decide whether this is a sector within which you feel you wish to work in the future.
Units you will study include:
If you have a Grade 2 or below in English or maths, you can study towards either a PASS in Functional Skills Level 2 or a GCSE grade 4-9. Once you have achieved either qualification, you will not be required to undertake any further English or maths.
Full time 16-19 learner with a Grade 3, must study towards a GCSE grade 4-9.
Entry requirements are two GCSEs at grades E or above (new GCSE grade 2 or above) or equivalent (to include English or maths), or any one of the following, an Entry 3 qualification, a Certificate in Skills for Working Life or Life Skills, an ESOL Entry L3 qualification.
If you are unable to meet these entry requirements enrolment onto our Pathways to Progress provision will prepare you for progression into the curriculum area of your choice, either in-year (depending on progress made in the first six weeks) or the following September. We also offer full time ESOL courses which give you opportunity to develop your language skills further prior to progression into the curriculum area of your choice the following September.
The Level 1 Construction Skills Diploma is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course. If you are aged 19+, this course will cost £1200
