The course focuses on developing the basic skills and knowledge, via 3 different skill pathways, which will prepare learners for progression into a specialist trade or to boost their own practical skills.

What will I do?

During Construction Skills (Carpentry) you will study 3 separate units, including:

  • Introduction to Health and Safety in Construction
  • Constructing Halving Joints
  • Bending and Jointing Copper Pipes

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

You will attend college every Tuesday evening between 6:00pm and 9:00pm.

At the end of each practical element there is an assessment to complete which is graded against set tolerances. There will be supplementary questions asked within the assessment timeframe to confirm underpinning knowledge of the subject.

The Health & Safety unit is assessed via the completion and marking of a knowledge workbook.
