The Level 3 Beauty Therapy Massage Diploma is a job ready qualification based on National Occupational Standards. This course will provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work competently as an advanced beauty therapist specialising in massage.

Throughout this course you will monitor procedures to safely control work operations, contribute to the financial planning and implementation of promotional activities, provide body massage treatments, provide Indian head massage, carry out massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils and provide stone therapy treatments. You will be taught by lecturers with invaluable industry experience and work in our Style Academy salons.

Progression opportunities upon completion of this course can be directly into employment in beauty salons or spas, level 4 beauty qualifications and university.

What will I do?

You will study several units during the course, earning you a total of 44 credits. These units include:

  • Health and Safety
  • Planning and implementing promotional events
  • Body massage treatments
  • Indian head massage
  • Massage with pre-blended aromatherapy oils
  • Stone therapy treatments
  • Provide facial electrical treatments
  • Optional units – minimum of 7 credits

  • Airbrush make-up
  • Single eyelash extension treatments
  • Self-tanning services
  • Body electrical treatments
  • Facial electrical treatments
  • You may also have the opportunity to take part in trips to beauty UK, observe and listen to guest speakers including Steiner, Ragdale Hall and Dermalogica.

    The entry qualifications are succesful completion of a previous Beauty Therapy Level 2 qualification (or equivalent), with a satisfactory report from all previous beauty tutors and successful completion of an interview and taster session, in which attendance (minimum 90%), acceptable behaviour/attitude, ability to progress and ability to meet deadlines will be taken into consideration.

    The Massage Therapies Diploma will take you one year to complete. You will attend College for a minimum four days a week.

    The Massage Therapies Diploma is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.

    Aged 19+?
    If you are aged 19 years or over on the 1st day of your course, you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with your College fees. If you progress to employment you won't have to pay anything back until you’re earning £25,000 per year. Your household income isn't taken into account and there's no credit check.     You will be assessed through methods including exams, coursework, presentations and work based evidence.

    You will be required to purchase the following items; Uniform approx. £45 and Eyelash kits approx. £50. Any additional costs further to this will include trips, textbooks and study materials.

    There may be an opportunity to complete an Industry Placement alongside your main Level 3 course.

    Industry placements give you the chance to put into practice what you have learned and you will have the opportunity to spend an average of 50 days working for an employer, in a role directly relevant to your course.

    With an Industry Placement you will gain technical skills, be prepared for the world of work, and gain connections in order to secure a job after your course.

    What will I do?

    • You will take part in an average of 50 days placement in a role that is directly relevant to your course, in an external organisation.
    • You will develop the practical and technical skills required for your profession/trade.
    • You will develop employability skills such as communication, teamwork and time management.

    An existing part time job may qualify as an Industry Placement if it meets the criteria set by the College.
