The Level 3 Beauty Therapy Massage Diploma is a job ready qualification based on National Occupational Standards. This course will provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work competently as an advanced beauty therapist specialising in massage.

What will I do?

The Level 3 Massage Therapies Diploma is based on the national occupational standards for massage therapy and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a Massage Therapist. You must achieve all mandatory units which include:

  • Health and Safety in the Salon
  • Client Care and Consultation
  • History and Origins of Massage Therapies
  • Swedish Massage
  • Stone Therapy
  • Indian Head Massage
  • Anatomy and Physiology for the Face and Body Systems
  • Promote and Sell Products and Services
  • Contribute to the Effective Running of a Business

You will also develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, the history and origins of massage therapies and how to effectively contribute to the overall running of a business. As well as also developing the knowledge, understanding and skills to consult with clients, successfully promote and retail products, whilst also providing a variety of massage therapies. In parallel, you will develop your communication and customer service skills, your awareness of environmental sustainability and your commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employers. Problem solving and research skills will also be developed.

The entry qualifications are successful completion of a previous Beauty Therapy Level 2 qualification (or equivalent).

At interview the suitability and expectations of the course will be discussed to ensure that you are considering the correct course to meet your needs.

The Massage Therapies Diploma will take you one year to complete. You will attend College for a minimum four days a week.

You will need a minimum of 90% attendance throughout the year, in order for you to successfully complete the qualification.

The Massage Therapies Diploma is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.

If you are aged 19+, this course will cost £3345.

Aged 19+?
If you are aged 19 years or over on the 1st day of your course, you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with your College fees. If you progress to employment you won't have to pay anything back until you’re earning £25,000 per year. Your household income isn't taken into account and there's no credit check. You will be assessed through methods including exams, coursework, presentations and work based evidence.

This qualification will prepare you for employment as a beauty therapist. You will also be eligible to join a professional association and gain insurance as a beauty therapist. Career opportunities as a beauty therapist exist in a variety of contexts, including: working in beauty salons, destination and days spas, working independently, self employed homebased or mobile.

You will be required to purchase the following items; Uniform approx. £45 and Eyelash kits approx. £50. Any additional costs further to this will include trips, textbooks and study materials.

There may be an opportunity to complete an Industry Placement alongside your main Level 3 course.

Industry placements give you the chance to put into practice what you have learned and you will have the opportunity to spend an average of 50 days working for an employer, in a role directly relevant to your course.

With an Industry Placement you will gain technical skills, be prepared for the world of work, and gain connections in order to secure a job after your course.

What will I do?

  • You will take part in an average of 50 days placement in a role that is directly relevant to your course, in an external organisation.
  • You will develop the practical and technical skills required for your profession/trade.
  • You will develop employability skills such as communication, teamwork and time management.

An existing part time job may qualify as an Industry Placement if it meets the criteria set by the College.
