Welcome to the exciting world of T Level Accountancy โ€“ a groundbreaking qualification that is set to redefine your educational journey and open doors to a promising future in the Accounting sector! This course has been meticulously crafted in collaboration with industry experts, ensuring that you gain practical, career-ready skills.

T Level Accountancy is intended for students who want to progress to a career in the accountancy sector. The purpose of the T Level Technical Qualification in Accounting is to ensure you have the knowledge and skills needed to progress into highly skilled employment, an Apprenticeship or higher-level study, including university, within the specialist area of accountancy. At the end of the Technical Qualification, you will be expected to demonstrate threshold competence, which means that you have gained the core knowledge and skills related to accountancy and are well-placed to develop full occupational competence with additional development and support once employed in the accountancy sector.

Our commitment to providing a holistic education means that you'll acquire not just theoretical knowledge but also practical skills. As part of your T Level Accountancy experience, you'll embark on a minimum of 45 days or 315 hours of work experience within the industry. This real-world exposure will not only solidify your understanding but also give you a glimpse into the daily challenges and triumphs of professionals in this field.

What will I do?

80% of your studies will be within the College, where you will build theoretical knowledge and develop your practical skills.

20% of the qualification will involve a 45-day (315 hours) industry placement with a local employer. During this time you will gain real work experience within the industry, placing you in a great position to progress into employment once you complete your T Level qualification. You will develop an understanding of a broad range of topics relevant to the sector, including:

  • Fundamentals of financial accounting โ€“ an understanding of elementary financial principles, concepts and practices and how this content links to relevant accounting, bookkeeping, and business mathematics requirements
  • Professionalism and ethics - an understanding of professional conduct and responsibilities in the workplace and ethical dilemmas for the individual, organisation and professional
  • Data-driven innovation and analytics and design thinking โ€“ an awareness of key requirements of a data governance framework and understanding the main contemporary visualisation tools and when they are best used to support decision making

To study the T Level in Accountancy you will need at least five GCSEs at grade 5 or above including English and Maths at grade 6 or above. You will also need to attend an interview at the college.

The T Level in Accountancy will take you two years to complete, attending a minimum of four days per week (including your industry placement).

The T Level in Accountancy 3 is free, if you are aged 16-18 on 31 August of the year you start the course.

The T Level in Accounting has two mandatory components, and you will be assessed by two externally set Core Examinations and an Employer Set Project.

T Levels are equivalent to three A-Levels. Gaining a T Level can help you with progression onto higher study, Apprenticeships or into skilled employment. Your T Level will also be worth UCAS points. A T Level at grade Distinction* is worth the same as three A Levels at A* and will be recognised by universities and other providers, meaning you have the option to continue your studies after college.
