INTRODUCTION

This qualification from City & Guilds introduces you to the main insurance bodies and looks at the roles of those working in insurance.  You will then explore the key features of different types of travel insurance policies and categories of cover available, including specialist policies.  Finally you will look at the procedures for issuing policies, and calculating insurance premiums.

WHAT WILL I DO?

You will study five areas:

  1. Describe key features of travel insurance  
  2. Examine insurance policies and their cover
  3. Examine the cover offered by specialist travel insurance
  4. Describe information required before issuing a travel insurance policy
  5. Calculate premiums for specialist travel insurance

Assessment is by on-line multiple choice question paper.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE

The course will cover 10 hours altogether.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

There are no specific qualifications required for this course although a good standard of literacy, ABTAC or Travel Agency experience is essential.

WHERE COULD IT LEAD

Successful candidates can progress to work in a customer service or travel agency environment or it may lead to further training within this field.

FEES

This course is only offered as part of full-time BTEC National Certificate Travel and Tourism, or to those who have completed the ABTAC Level 2.
