Craft Training Level 2

INTRODUCTION

This course provides enhanced skills and knowledge to prepare you for employment and further training in the building services industry.

WHAT WILL I DO

Topics covered are those that are required within the building services industry. These include the use of hand tools, portable power tools, safe use of bottled gases in the execution of a variety of plumbing practical tasks.

Facilities include a plumbing workshop with assessment areas and a learning resource room. All students have access to information on study skills and study support groups if required.

You will have a personal tutor to help support your learning. There are externally set multiple choice examinations and various practical assessments. All work is assessed when required, by College-based assessors.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE

This course can be studied full-time for one year or part-time for 2 years.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

A relevant Level 1 vocational qualification or 4GCSE’s at grade A- D to include Maths and English.

Applicants should provide a good reference and successfully complete an interview. Applicants will also complete an aptitude test, where they will have demonstrated abilities and an interest in the subject.

Entry to the Evening provision is through the Pre-Vocational evening course and associated assessment at the end of the course.

WHERE COULD IT LEAD

Successful students will usually continue their training part-time to NVQ Diploma Level 2 in Plumbing and Heating whilst in employment in the industry.

FEES

Full time Courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. For others, fees may vary depending on personal circumstances. Please enquire for details.

For part-time fees please enquire with the Construction team.

ADDITIONAL COSTS

For workshop activities you will need to purchase your own safety footwear and protective clothing that meet the course requirements. For classroom activities you will need to provide stationary and writing materials.
