Boston College has run this course, an award of the University of Huddersfield since 2009. The course is designed to meet the needs of professionals wishing to broaden their knowledge of theory, policy and research methods within education and other related areas. Candidates will develop their personal, professional ability and confidence to continue with their professional and career development.
Employment within an educational setting will support the modules within the course and the candidate’s professional development.
The course requires 2 years part time study. For the Honours degree candidates will need to study part time for another year. There are weekly taught sessions which run from 5pm-8pm during term time between September and June. Tutorial support is arranged at other convenient times.
The course is particularly relevant for those wishing to progress from a Certificate in Education to an undergraduate degree. Candidates who hold a Certificate in Education and 2 years full-time teaching experience or equivalent will be able to claim 180 towards the degree. Applications are also welcomed from candidates with 5 years appropriate professional experience within the education sector. The University admissions tutor is keen to explore applicants experience in this sector and to respond positively to individual needs.
The course may lead to career progression and further postgraduate study.
