Edexcels First Diploma in Travel & Tourism is designed to provide you with a variety of skills for the world’s biggest industry, preparing you for satisfying and rewarding employment in the enormous range of occupations in Travel and Tourism.
This one year course combines class work with opportunities to visit tourist attractions and other venues.
WHAT WILL I DO
You will study 11 vocational units and three functional skills during the year with time for additional studies:
· The UK Travel and Tourism Sector
· Understanding Customer Services in Travel and Tourism
· UK Tourism Destinations
· European Holiday Destinations
· Exploring Marketing in Travel and Tourism
· Organising a Travel and Tourism Study Visit
· Understanding the Nature and effects of World Travel
· Developing Customer Service skills in Travel and Tourism
· Worldwide Travel Destinations
· Preparing for Employment in Travel and Tourism
· Introduction to Cruise Operations
Additional units include:
· City & Guilds Unit Certificate in Worldwide Travel & Tourism Destinations
· NCFE Certificate for Resort Representatives Level 2
· Certificate in Meet and Greet Services
· Functional Skills in Application of Number, ICT and Communication
Assessment is through production of a portfolio of evidence. On successful completion you will be awarded a Pass, Merit or Distinction. Visits to travel and tourism businesses will be part of the course as is an annual trip abroad (depending on numbers).
The course is full time and lasts for 32 weeks from September to June. Approximately 21 hours will be spent in the class room each week.
4 GCSEs at grade D or above are required, plus a good reference and suitable aptitude for the industry.
Students who are successful on their course can progress to the BTEC National Certificate or other Level 3 courses within College. Career opportunities are available within the travel and tourism industry.
Full time Courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. For others, fees may vary depending on personal circumstances. Please enquire for details.
