The Edexcel BTEC National Subsidiary Diploma/ Diploma in Applied Science is a part-time course usually studied alongside AS / A2 levels to make a full-time course. In one year the Subsidiary Diploma is obtained. It provides the broad equivalent of one full A level and provides UCAS points. In the second year the full Diploma is obtained, providing a second A level equivalent.
This exciting new level 3 syllabus provides a pathway to University in Science related subjects. It involves a large element of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. It will also prepare students for work in Science and Health related fields such as nursing, biomedical science, radiography and physiotherapy.

This level 3 qualification is coursework based. It is assessed by College set assignments and externally moderated by Edexcel. There are no external exams.
The Subsidiary Diploma requires one and the Diploma requires two years of study.
You should have 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, with a grade C minimum in GCSE Science and preferably grade C in Maths and English. (Or equivalent in other qualifications to be discussed at interview).
