BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Applied Sciences (Forensic Science)

INTRODUCTION

The Edexcel BTEC National Subsidiary Diploma/ Diploma in Applied Science is a part-time course usually studied alongside AS / A2 levels to make a full-time course. The Subsidiary Diploma is obtained in one year . It provides the broad equivalent of one full A level and provides UCAS points. In the second year the full Diploma is obtained, providing a second A level equivalent.

This exciting new level 3 syllabus provides a pathway to University in Science related subjects. It involves elements of Psychology, Biology, Chemistry and some Physics. It will also prepare students for work or University study in science and health related fields such as Forensic Science and Psychology.

• Criminal psychology

Year 2
• Scientific Investigation
• Perceptions of Science
• Using Mathematical tools in Science
• Using Statistics in Science
• Medical Physics Techniques
• Biomedical Science Techniques
• Forensic psychology

This level 3 qualification is coursework based. It is assessed by College set assignments and externally moderated by Edexcel. There are no exams.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE

The Subsidiary Diploma requires one year of study and the Diploma requires two years of study.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

You should have 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, with a grade C minimum in GCSE Science and English and preferably grade C in Maths. (Or equivalent in other qualifications to be discussed at interview).
