Real Skills for Work

INTRODUCTION

Real Skills for Work can be studied in various disciplines: Art and Design; Care; Catering; Construction; Motor Vehicle; Retail; Sport; Business Administration; Hair and Beauty; Travel and Tourism, Motor Sports Karting and Small Animal Care and Horticulture.
The course is an introduction to working in a variety of vocational areas. It introduces the type of jobs available, the skills and qualities needed.  It is designed to improve confidence and self-esteem within a supportive environment.  

WHAT WILL I DO 

The programme consists of a variety of courses. The main qualification is a Level 1 BTEC Diploma  in Vocational Studies, which concentrates on Construction, Motor Vehicle, Care, Art and Design, Catering, Retail, Sport, Business Administration, Hair and Beauty, Travel and Tourism, Motor Sports Karting and Small Animal Care and Horticulture.

You will also work towards a variety of other qualifications including, Personal and Social Development and Functional Skills (Maths, English and IT).

You will also undertake work experience which will be arranged by Boston College.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Where appropriate students will be given the opportunity for work placement.

(CRB may be needed)

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE

The course is a year long and on a full time basis.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

Entry to the programme is based on references and interview.

WHERE COULD IT LEAD

The course may lead to further study within the college or employment.

FEES

Full time Courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. For others, fees may vary depending on personal circumstances. Please enquire for details.

If you require a CRB then the cost will be met by the student.
