This NOCN Level 2 Diploma in Progression programme is a General Qualification designed to provide more mature learners with the means to achieve a full level 2 qualification (equivalent to 5 GCSEs). The course helps learners to prepare themselves for a range of level 3 courses, gives them the opportunity to test out a range of subject areas or gain improved employment opportunities. Learners study in a friendly, supportive atmosphere, and you can gain a nationally recognised qualification. The course is validated by the Open College Network East Midlands Region.
WHAT WILL I DO
The Certificate is gained by the student achieving at least 145 credits in core subjects and a range of taster subjects.
Core Subjects:
Core English, Core Maths, Core IT and Study Skills
Taster Subjects:
Psychology, Business, Biology, Sociology, Law and English Literature
Actual hours of attendance are approximately 12 hours per week (2 and a half days) from November to July for 30 weeks. All lessons are between the hours of 9:00am and 3:00pm.
Students will also be expected to carry out a significant amount of self directed study.
No formal qualifications are required, however applicants must be aged 16 or over, able to demonstrate ‘life experience’ and show a real commitment to their studies. There will be an informal interview with the Pre-Access Co-ordinator to determine the suitability of the course and a short diagnostic assessment for applicants to undertake to help us assess what support may be required.
Successful completion of the course should enable you to progress to an Access to Higher Education Programme, a range of further education courses or enhance your employment prospects in a range of organisations.
