During the course you will gain skills in various areas of music and music technology and how to apply them in a creative context. You will have the opportunity to perform in a band, as a soloist or DJ several times throughout the course.
You will have the opportunity to make demos in the Sam Newsom Centre’s excellent studio facilities and you will be introduced to sequencing, recording and, for those following DJ careers, DJ techniques such as mixing and scratching. You will also investigate aspects of funding and how record companies operate.
There are no examinations on this course, instead you will complete a series of projects which will be assessed and graded and these marks will add together to give you your final grade. You will also be expected to study English and Mathematics Functional Skills.
As a Music student you will have access to all of our Music facilities and equipment, which include dedicated recording studio, practice rooms, recital hall, computer suite and an excellent range of current, contemporary, music and music technology equipment.
