BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary/ Extended Diploma in Performing Arts

INTRODUCTION

This two year course is aimed at students with a passion for Acting, Singing or Dance, who wish to progress to Higher Education or pursue a career in the Performing Arts Industry and will provide you with a broad foundation in contemporary performing arts skills. 

This is a practical course, where you will learn and be assessed by completing practical assignments, performing and taking part in shows that are based on modern youth culture and aspirations. The Extended Diploma is equivalent to 3 GCE A Levels grade A*-C.

WHAT WILL I DO?

You will learn and be assessed through a series of practical projects and performances, aimed at developing your imagination and performance techniques in order to develop knowledge and experience.

On this course you will learn dance, singing, TV & Film Acting and Theatre Performance in order to broaden and extend your skills and experience so that you may make an informed decision about progression to Higher Education or future careers within the Performing Arts Industry.

You will be expected to learn dialogue and songs at home in your own time and (where possible) rehearse dance routines.  You will also be expected to study English and Mathematics Functional Skills.

As a Performing Arts student you will have access to all of our Performing Arts facilities which include dedicated dance studio, practice rooms, performance spaces, computer suite, Film and Television Studio and Photography studio.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE

The full Extended Diploma is studied full-time for two academic years, normally from September to June. 

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

4 GCSE’s at grade A*-C or Merit / Distinction at BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts or Higher Level 2 Diploma in Creative & Media

You should also have a good school reference, including a good attendance record and be able to demonstrate your enthusiasm for the subject at your interview and audition. 

You must also pass a diagnostic screener in English at Level 2.

WHERE COULD IT LEAD

Successful completion of the course would allow you to progress to Higher Education to study any aspect of Performing Arts.

Should you decide to enter the world of employment the Extended Diploma is equivalent to 3 GCE A Levels grade A*-C.

FEES

Full time Courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. For others, fees may vary depending on personal circumstances. Please enquire for details.
