Introduction to Counselling Skills
Level 2 Certificate

INTRODUCTION

This is a taster course which is intended for those people who want to learn initial counselling skills in order to help others.  It will not teach you to be a counsellor but should help you find out more about the field of counselling and may help you to decide if you want to undertake further training.

WORK EXPERIENCE

To achieve the qualification you will be expected to collect evidence of your learning in a portolio which will be assessed by your tutor.  You will be given guidance by your tutor about what should be included in your portfolio.  In addition to your portfolio you will be asked to complete a brief Self Review using a pro-forma which is then externally assessed by CPCAB (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body).  The Self Review will be completed during class time towards the end of your course.  To achieve the qualification you will need to complete your portfolio and the Self Review to a satisfactory standard.  You will be given guidance and support to achieve the necessary standard.

The course lasts for 12 weeks, start date to be confirmed.  It will run on Tuesday evenings 6-9pm.
