The course provides the theory and practical experience for students who would like to work in the Health and Social Care sector.
WHAT WILL I DO
Subjects include: Personal and Professional Development, Communication, Equality, Diversity and Rights, Health and Safety, Vocational Experience, Psychology, Sociology, Anatomy and Physiology, Values and Planning, Supporting and Protecting Adults, Working with Children. The course is taught using a variety of methodologies including, project work, student led research, lectures, seminars etc.
In a range of settings including; residential care, nursing care and child care environment.
The course consists of 3 days per week in college and 2 days per week on placement. The course lasts for 2 Years.
5 GCSE at grades A*-C (or equivalent) three of which must include English, Maths, Science or Humanities
Nursing Degree
Employment with Health and Social Care settings.
Full time Courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. For others, fees may vary depending on personal circumstances. Please enquire for details.
All students gaining work experience will need to gain CRB. All those working in the care sector need to undergo a CRB check. Convictions, warnings or pending convictions should be disclosed at point of interview. Any of the above may jeopardise a place on a course. Each case with be dealt with on an individual basis. However, failure to disclose will result in course determination.

An Assessment Day to include a further in-depth interview with Care Studies staff with be carried out on Wednesday 15th June or Monday 20th June.
A 5 day Practical Placement with relevant reference will be required (if that cannot be obtained through school work experience, the students must access it themselves).
