NVQ Level 3

INTRODUCTION

The NVQ Level 3 in Hairdressing is a nationally recognised course involving the use of advanced hairdressing techniques while improving the student"s creative ability.

The College Hairdressing & Beauty Department boasts 3 specialist hairdressing salons, 3 fully equipped beauty rooms, a wet room and a large joint reception.

WHAT WILL I DO

The course is broken down into a number of units which cover the following topics:

Students will be continually assessed throughout the course as and when ready. Areas of assessment will cover practical applications, written assignments, oral questioning and portfolio evidence.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE

Full time - 3 days a week (normally Monday to Wednesday) for 1 year.

Part-time (Day release) - 1 day and evening per week (normally 11.30-8.30pm) for 1 year. 

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

Either an NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent. All candidates will require an interview, in which attendance, attitude and ability will be taken into consideration.

WHERE COULD IT LEAD

Employment opportunities in hairdressing salons, cruise liners, health farms, stage hairdressing or as a mobile hairdresser, lecturing hairdresser or salon owner.

FEES

Full time Courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. For others, fees may vary depending on personal circumstances. Please enquire for details.

For Adult students (19+), tuition fees may apply.

ADDITIONAL COSTS

Kit: £180 (this may be reduced if you already have your own kit).

You will need:

1 x Block (with long hair), 2 x lever arch files, dividers and plastic wallets plus Level 3 textbook and uniform.

Due to participating in a competition, photoshoot and hair show you will be required to purchase accessories, and outfits for these occasions.

Materials fee: £40

Make Up Brush Kit approximately £30.00 (not needed for Day Release students).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A minimum of 90% attendance is required in order to acheive this qualification. Any additional time will be costed separately if required. All costs must be paid at the beginning of the course.
