The aim of this course is to enable the student to pursue a career in the beauty therapy field.
The beauty section at Boston College has three fully equipped training salons (which are open to the public) together with a reception area for all practical skills. Theory sessions will be taught either in the resource area or various classrooms.
WHAT WILL I DO
The course consists of eight units covering topics such as :-
Plus further qualifications: providing stone therapy treatments and fashion and photographic make-up.
The course of study will include theoretical and practical sessions, online written tests, practical assessments on clients and the production of a portfolio of evidence. Students will have the opportunity to undertake trade tests for work experience in a health farm.
Each student will have access to information on study skills and the opportunity to attend study support groups. The average group size is 14-16 students.
This course is studied full time for one year, 3 days a week, 9.00 - 4.30pm.
You should have completed the NVQ level 2 in Beauty Therapy (or its equivalent). A full interview will be carried out for students wishing to progress from Level 2 to Level 3, in which attendance, attitude and ability will be taken into consideration.
Successful completion will enable you to seek employment in a salon, health farm, cruise ship or work on a freelance/mobile basis.
Full time Courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. For others, fees may vary depending on personal circumstances. Please enquire for details.
