Initial Craft Training Level 1

INTRODUCTION

You can chose to study this course at either Boston College, Skirbeck Road, Boston or Red Lion Quarter, Spalding.

This full-time course leads to a Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery and aims to prepare you for employment and further craft training in the Construction industry.

WHAT WILL I DO?

The course is made up of 6 units. All units include practical activities in carpentry and joinery. A hands on approach will be adapted by all learners in the achievement of the qualification. Facilities for training include construction workshops and a learning resource room. All students will have access to information on study skills and study support groups if required.

You will have a Personal Tutor to help support your learning.

There are a number of multi choice exams to complete. All work is assessed, when required, by College based assessors. All work can be re-assessed if required without delay.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE

This course is full-time for one year during which you should achieve the qualification.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

3 x D- F GCSE"s including Maths and English

Students should successfully complete an interview and be successful on the aptitude test. A good school reference should include attendance and effort in Year 11. An aptitude and interest in the subject must also be demonstrated.

WHERE COULD IT LEAD

Successful students will usually continue their training full or part-time to level 2 qualifications.

FEES

Full time Courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. For others, fees may vary depending on personal circumstances. Please enquire for details.
