CACHE Diploma in Caring for Children
Level 1

INTRODUCTION

The aims of this course are to give a basic knowledge and understanding of caring for children. You will also study the basic skills needed to care for children. It will also help you to develop personal skills which can be used later in all forms of employment.
 
WHAT WILL I DO

You will cover a range of core subjects and personal development subjects including:

ASSESSMENT

You will be assessed in a variety of ways such as coursework dispalys and presentations etc. You will have a personal tutor to help guide and support your study. You may also be offered additional learning support if needed. All students will develop an individual learning plan.

ADDITIONAL COURSE INFORMATION

The course information is delivered using a variety of strategies. There are formal lessons, lectures, group discussions, research and practical sessions.
Assessment is mainly through coursework assignments and presentations. You will be given lesson time to complete your assignments.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE

The course is studied for 1 year full-time.  All students will undergo a probationary period.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

· Preferably, a GCSE profile of D-F grades or equivalent
· A good reference from school
· A genuine caring attitude and desire to work with children
· An ability to demonstrate personal skills and qualities at interview.

All those working in the care sector need to have a clear criminal record. Convictions, warnings or pending convictions should be disclosed at point of interview. Any of the above may jeopardise a place on a course. Each case will be dealt with on an individual basis. However, failure to disclose will result in course termination. For progression to a level 2 course in care or early years you will need to undergo a CRB check.

WHERE COULD IT LEAD

Successful candidates with a good tutor reference could progress to a level 2 course.

NB: This is a foundation course, and not a licence to practise.

There is no practical placement within this qualification.

FEES

Full time Courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. For others, fees may vary depending on personal circumstances. Please enquire for details.
