You can chose to study this course at either Boston College, Skirbeck Road, Boston or Red Lion Quarter, Spalding.
This qualification is aimed at practising electricians with relevant experience and other allied professionals e.g. surveyors, consultants and other trades needing to update and enhance their understanding of IEE Wiring Regulations. It is also suitable for anyone wishing to demonstrate an understanding of the IEE 17th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
The examination will take place one evening after the course. It is classified as an open book exam with the following reference material permitted:
This course takes a total of 4 days plus a 2 hour online exam. Exams must be taken at Boston College.
There are no formal entry requirements. However, the qualification is primarily aimed at practising electricians with relevant experience and other allied professionals e.g. surveyors, consultants and other trades needing to update and enhance their undertstanding of IEE regulations. Individuals without this experience should seek to undertake appropriate qualifications and experience before undertaking this qualification.
If you have acquired any of the following certificates within the dates given you need only to do the 17th Edition Update course.
City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (BS 7671: June 2001) (2381), or
City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Electro-technical Technology Installation (Building and Structures), (2330-07) or
City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Electro-technical Technology Electrical Maintenance (2330-08), or
City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Electrical Installations Part Two (2360) (from 1st January 2004 onwards only).
Summitskills have recently announced that they have extended the entry requirements for the wiring regulations update. The 2351 is now acceptable as an entrance exam for the 2382-20 Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (16th to 17th edition update) only if achieved as part of an Electrotechnical Advanced Apprentiship completed after 1st January 2004.
