INTRODUCTION

The aims of this ABC Awards syllabus are to encourage students to:
WHAT WILL I DO
 
Students will demonstrate their competence in reading, writing or speaking and listening through the study of a range of contemporary topics and the use of authentic resources, including newspapers, audio and visual materials and the internet. Essential grammar will be taught and practised across the range of topics, as well as general information such as telephone conventions, opinions and business phrases.
 
WHAT WILL I STUDY
 
Topics studied will include Media and the Arts, Travel and Tourism, and Health and Fitness.
 
All students will complete a portfolio of work and will achieve the award on successful completion of internal assessments throughout the course. All assessments can be completed according to the needs of individual students, and can be re-taken if required. There are no external exams.  

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE

Practical Languages may be studied on a part-time basis but students must be able to fit it into the full-time time table.  This course requires one year of study.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

Normally 5 GCSE"s at C or above one of which must be French.
