  • Policies, statements, procedures and guidelines relating to recruitment
  • Generic terms and conditions of employment
  • Salary grades
  • Equality of Opportunity in Employment
  • Collective and bargaining procedures and consultation with recognised trade unions and professional organisations, and agreements reached.
  • Grievance procedures and policies
  • Disciplinary procedures and policies
  • Harassment and bullying policy
  • Health and safety policy and procedures
  • Public interest disclosure (for compliance with the Public Interest Disclosure Act)

  1. Policies, statements, procedures and guidelines relating to the provision of equal opportunities with respect to age, race/ethnic origin, gender, religion and belief, sexual orientation, and disability

This class includes information on staff development and training, including induction programmes, probation and appraisal.

  1. Induction - details of areas covered and procedures
  2. Policies and procedures relating to probation
  3. Policies and procedures pertaining to appraisal
  4. Policies and procedures relating to the on-going development of staff, including schemes such as Investors in People
  5. Policies on upgrades and promotions

The Computing department enjoys high success rates across the curriculum, with all results above National averages, including 100% achievement rate for Level 1 courses and for all Higher Education courses.  Outstanding achievement rates in Computing at Boston College include the results at Level 3 of 96%.  In addition, a large proportion of Level 3 students progress to Higher Education, with most of these staying at Boston College.
