As businesses seek new ways to exploit technology, the computer industry is an exciting and rewarding one in which to work. All the programmes at Boston College are very practical; you will be involved in project work producing realistic programs and computer applications. Assessment includes practical group work where business skills are developed alongside technical skills. The College especially welcomes female applicants in an area where they are still under-represented.

Experienced and Highly Qualified Staff

All staff members in this department are highly qualified, with degrees and other professional qualifications to their credit. This is in addition to the teaching experience you can expect from tutors at Boston College. Four of our tutors trained in Computing at Boston College before going on to teacher training. After finishing school, Shaun had sketched out a plan to do the diploma in Computing and then onto the BSC in Computer Programming. “I have managed to stick at my plans and do more through the College, as I have also completed the 7307 teaching course and now move on to study the Cisco”.

Shaun enjoys many aspects of the course, particularly gaining hands on router experience, being able to see and compare different networks and find out why they are not working. “The work load is heavy, you have to be really dedicated to do well. You have to learn everything from the base up and really be willing to put in the time”.

“Working this course around my full time job as an IT manager has allowed me to gain more technical knowledge of problems I deal with at the moment and will help me to progress in the future”.
